Slavic Trinity Church youth wanted to make a difference in the greater Sacramento community so they reached out to the local homeless shelter Union Gospel Mission. On November 21st of 2010, STC youth joined with the Union Gospel Mission volunteers and staff to feed those in need. Six years later our youth continues to volunteer every third Sunday of every month to feed the homeless children, adults, and families. The shelter prepares the food with the help from the local community, surrounding citizens, and stores that donate food as well as clothing. We have been very fortunate to have this privilege to be a part of the Union Gospel Mission ministry.
Mathew 25:35 says, “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.” This verse encourages us to help those in need and welcome them regardless of their situation in this life.
